Welcome to the Cornell Club of New Mexico web site!

We're glad you found us. The Cornell Club of New Mexico is a great way to keep in touch with Cornell and Cornell alumni in the area. We use this site to inform alumni about our club, share ideas, and organize events and activities. Please use the links at the top of the page to browse through the site. We hope you find it fun and informative.

Are you interested in becoming a CAAAN member?

CAAAN web site.

Northern New Mexico CAAAN (Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network) had a successful year in 2008-09, with kudos from Ithaca for our over 90% assignment record. Co-chairs are Tom Steiner, Arts '55 and Anita Miller, Arts '58. Our Southern New Mexico CAAAN Chair is Armand Velez.

CAAAN contacts high school applicants to the University to meet them and personally introduce Cornell. (Phone contacts may be appropriate in some cases.) Contact reports are made on-line; they are not evaluations. We are seeking additional alumni for the contacts, especially younger alumni. Last year we had a particular shortage of young Santa Fe and Los Alamos area CU graduates. Especially needed always are engineering, science and ALS graduates.

Last year there were almost 40 applicants from our area; we can expect roughly the same number this year. Our current contact team cannot handle this volume. Early admission applicants--there were three last year, all now attending Cornell--must be contacted in November; regular admission contacts will be scheduled in late December or January.

Last year's CAAAN members reported universally satisfying experiences in meeting the applicants. If you are interested in becoming a CAAAN representative or have questions, please contact Tom at tsteiner110@comcast.net, (505) 271-2250, Anita at milleranit@aol.com, (505) 856-6406 or Armand Velez, at avelez@da.state.nm.us

We really need you!
